Disney World Hotel – The Grand Floridian Resort Hotel, my favorite of all the hotels! Read why I love this hotel so much and why it’s the ultimate place to stay and play if you’re wanting a luxury travel experience with your Disney vacation.
No, I have not visited ALL of the Disney World resort hotels, yet…. lol! While it’s on the agenda, I have stayed at quite a few of the popular ones and have interviewed plenty of people, enough to come to the consensus that the Grand Floridian is the hotel of choice for those who prefer luxury accommodations.
The Grand Floridian Hotel
I kind of fell in love with the Grand Floridian from the first moment we arrived. They definitely set out to woo you right from the start, with the feel of being a guest arriving at a grand estate. The Victorian style buildings and perfectly manicured gardens, the white carriage, even the bellhops and valets are straight out of the pages of Cinderella. The lobby is simply gorgeous, with it’s magnificent chandelier and infamous elevator it exudes a classic elegance that you have to stop and take in for a moment. A grand orchestra plays from the balcony above at certain times of day, and at other hours you’ll hear the soft melodies a piano player on the main floor.
Pass through the lobby and out to the courtyard area and you’ll find two pool areas and a splash park. One pool features a giant size game of chess and you’ll find children playing croquet and other yard games by the gates. The other has a fantastic slide and a sandy beach area for play. The splash play area is Alice in Wonderland themed, like most of the Grand Floridian hotel. Giant teacups spill into each other and make a huge waterfall of splashes for the kids to have fun in.
The Grand Floridian hosts several events that make it a delightful place to stay for the younger crowd. The Princess Promenade brings fairytale to life each afternoon, when Cinderella and Prince Charming escort children down the grand staircase for a waltz around the lobby. Alice and friends put on a whimsical tea party at certain times as well. And ladies of all ages can make reservations for high tea with all the royal refinements fit for a Queen.
