Art of Animation Resort at Walt Disney World. We stayed and played and we’re sharing all the fun with you… read more about our Disney vacation and thoughts on this Walt Disney World resort.
I’ve always wanted to see Disney at Christmas and after we had so much fun during the Disney World Halloween celebrations I decided to make a short trip back to Florida for just a few days in early December. I also wanted to check out some of the other resorts so for this trip I made our reservations at the Art of Animation resort. It looked like a fun place from the pics online and I knew Brady would love all the characters that are featured across the property.
The lobby of the Art of Animation is filled with drawings and sketches of Disney characters and movie scenes. After we had checked-in we headed out to take a look around and explore. The main lobby connects to a gift shop and a cafeteria style restaurant. Pass through the lobby doors and you step out to a large pool area filled with Finding Nemo characters in and around the pool. Keep to the right and you head towards the Cars themed hotel or stay straight ahead to the Lion King and Little Mermaid themed hotels.

B loved the Cars resort! We didn’t get a chance to check out the inside but just walking around the outside is fun if you have littles who love Cars. You’ll see all the main characters from the movie, Lightning McQueen and Mater ofcourse and a few other fun friends.
Walt Disney World Resorts- Best for Young Kids
The walk to the Little Mermaid hotel is a bit far. If you decide to stay at the Mermaid or Lion King property make sure to allow yourself plenty of time to get to wherever you’re planning for the day. It’s about a ten minute walk from Little Mermaid to the lobby.
We loved the ginormous Little Mermaid characters all around the pool area. King Triton, the Little Mermaid and the evil queen are all standing tall over the pool while Sebastian takes center stage instructing all the fish and marine life surrounding the water.
While the rooms are a bit dated we still enjoyed the Little Mermaid theme of the decor. From an adult perspective, we had previously stayed at the Grand Floridian, the Contemporary and the Animal Kingdom Lodge so this was definitely on a different level in regards to luxury, but still quite comfortable. And much more kid friendly and fun if you’re looking for a place that appeals to children more than adults.
Flip through our slideshow and you’ll see lots more pics of the Art of Animation grounds. I would recommend this Disney resort to anyone wanted to stay at a resort that gives kids the Disney character experience. You’ll love watching your child light up at the sight of their favorite Disney characters and there are lots of places to explore here. We also really loved that there are multiple pools and they are all big and spacious.
What do you think of the Art of Animation resort? Which hotel would your child love the most– Nemo, Cars, Lion King or the Little Mermaid?
