Memory Maker, the Photo Pass feature at Disney World that gives you access to photo ops and pictures all around the theme parks. So, is it worth it? We’re sharing our thoughts and pictures….

So you’re planning your trip to Disney World and you keep browsing over the part of the Disney website that asks if you want to add Memory Makers to your trip. What the heck is Memory Makers anyways you might wonder. Well, don’t worry, I’m going to tell you all about it 🙂

To understand what Memory Maker is,  first you need to know what PhotoPass is. PhotoPass is a service offered by Disney to make capturing all those magical moments from your trip easier and a little more fun. Of course you’ll be bringing your own camera, but you will quickly find that sometimes it’s pretty hard to get a good family photo in the middle of the Disney hustle and bustle. And since someone has to take the pic, someone is always going to be missing from your photos right. Well Disney came up with the genius idea to place photographers all around the theme parks, especially in those hotspots where you really want to get a good shot of say the castle, or the entrance to the Magic Kingdom. If you want to have your photo snapped by one of these photographers you just hop in the short lines and wait your turn. The photographer will snap a few great pics of everyone and then scan the photos to your MagicBand. Don’t have a MagicBand, no worries, they can give you PhotoPass card instead.

Now how do you check out all these fantastic photos? The pics will automatically upload to your “My Disney Experience” account online or you can enter your Photo Pass card codes at

You can browse through your pics and purchase individual photos and even create photo memorabilia and gifts.

But what if you want more than just a few good snaps from your trip? Well that’s what Memory Maker is for. It’s a photo package that includes digital copies of all the photos taken by PhotoPass photographers at every theme park. It also includes photos taken at attractions.

How Does it Work?

When you see a PhotoPass photographer and want to take a pic just jump in line. The photographer will scan the photos right to your MagicBand and you’ll be able to view them almost instantly through your My Disney Experience account. Same with attractions. The ride will pick up your MagicBand and will automatically add the pics to your PhotoPass account. When you want to download the pics just log on with your smartphone or computer and save the photo.

How Much Does It Cost?

Currently Memory Maker is sold through the Disney website for $149.

Is Memory Maker worth it?

Well, that depends on you. If you are the kind of person who just wants a few group shots of the family and you’re good, then I would stick with just purchasing your pics from PhotoPass. If you want an album full of memories and don’t want the hassle of trying to get strangers to snap your photos or trying to take awkward selfies, then Memory Maker is the way to go. We LOVED our pics and found that having the Memory Maker really inspired us to jump in on some photo ops we otherwise probably would’ve skipped.
